Phalaenopsis White Orchid

In the past sprint-summer, our two pots of orchids grew very well. There were so many blossoms that I lost count. But I was able to photograph different shoots that had single, two, three and four blossoms. They are truly beautiful. It’s really joyful to look at them every day.

Neighborhood Park

On a Saturday afternoon in October, after having late lunch at a get-together party, all friends decided to go out for a walk in the neighborhood park. Half an hour later, it started raining. I was only able to snap a few pictures of the nature.

Everything has at least two sides

‘Tis the season again. These flowers can be spotted everywhere all over the world, especially in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. So it’s not hard to find some in your neighborhood. This morning I got up a bit earlier than usual, rushed out for shooting even before brushing my teeth, ’cause I didn’t want to cause attraction from suspicious minds. Of course, if you do want to photograph on someone’s lawn, you’d better ask for permissions first, so that no one will call the police. I chose to take these pictures in a public sharing, unattended area. No one would ever mind.

Small Austrian Towns on Danube River (I)

(I actually prefer using the German word Donau than the English translation Danube. Even though I did look it up, I totally don’t get it how it got translated that way in the first place. To me, it just pronounces in a strange way. Annnnyway …)

Donau is the second longest river in Europe. It originates from Black Forest in Germany, flows through Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine and Romania and ends into the Black Sea, total 2,872 km.

Flowers by David

Our friend, David, is an experienced photographer. He took lots of landscape pictures on his trips to northern and western China, and most of the pictures are stunning. He’s also an enthusiast in photography in sense of the gears he owns, Canon 5D Mark II and 7D, a few prime lens including 35mm, 135mm and also a tele 400mm. He still uses a Nikon film camera occasionally. He always seduces me to move to full frame bodies. Tempted, but I’m not used to the weight of those big guys and they could be overkill for vacation travels.

Macro Photography

Since we’ve been on the topic of flowers, I might as well give you my take on macro photography now. This article is targeted to amateur and junior level photographers. I’m mostly referring to flowers here. But macro photography can be about anything small. Insects, for instance, are also popular subjects. (Feel free to click on each picture to see a larger version.)

Blossom

Today is probably the only day that doesn’t rain in these two weeks. When we got home after work, we are so excited to see the tulips and narcissus all beautifully unfolded their petals. Here they are. Enjoy.
